Hi, I'm Lucas

About Me

I'm a full-stack software developer, urban hiker, and voracious reader. I work as the Founding Engineer for Beepboop, one of New York's top edTech startups, and I live in Brooklyn with my wife and our two dogs.

My Work

I love writing software because the process combines all the best parts of helping a friend, solving a puzzle, and writing a novel: I create solutions to real-world problems that people face, engage my creative thinking and problem-solving skills, and craft an experience and message that uniquely guide the end-user through the application.

As a full-stack web application engineer, I get to do all of that while working with cutting-edge web technology that's always evolving -- the continuous process of learning new things and applying that knowledge keeps me engaged, motivated, and having fun with my work!

I'm currently the Founding Engineer at Beepboop, an edTech startup based in New York City. Before I became a software developer, I was (at various points) a web development contractor for a marketing and PR firm, a freelance web developer, a computer science teacher, and a gym owner and manager.

For Fun

When I'm not writing some sweet JavaScript or trouble-shooting a stubborn bit of CSS, I can often be found reading a novel (Terry Pratchett is a favorite of mine), getting my sweat on (I used to own a gym!), or playing with my dogs.

If you're in Brooklyn, you can often find me grabbing a coffee from Brooklyn Perk or wandering around Prospect Park (especially during off-leash hours!). On the weekends, my wife and I like to climb at The Cliffs and then have a burger and a beer at Three's Brewing.
